Synopsis
The duelist Kingdom playoffs begin, starting with the duel between Yugi and Mai. As Yugi's friends watch him from balcony, Yugi and Mai begin to duel, but Yugi is not willing to accept the help of the spirit of the puzzle anymore, afraid of what it might do to Mai. With Yugi only half concentrating on the duel, and also trying to keep the spirit under control, Mai imeadiatly takes the lead with the help of her Mirror Wall, a permanent trap that halves the attack points of any creature that attacks. Unable to touch her Harpie Lady, and still rejecting the help of the spirit, Yugi makes mistake after mistake while Mai powers up her Harpie. Yugi's friends begin wonder what is wrong with Yugi and why he is playing so poorly. After playing the Shadow of Eyes card, and forcing Yugi's Dark Magician to attack, Yugi's life points are reduced to 300, and Mai's are still at 2000. The spirit of the puzzle warns Yugi that if he doesn't let him help, everyone will lose!

Pegasus: Hm, the victor gets one wish that his or her heart most desires and if it is in my will power to do so, it is granted.

Goofs and Nitpicks
  • At one point, Mai draws two cards in the same turn, playing the Rose Whip after the first draw and Harpy's Pet Dragon after the second.
  • When Mai plays the Rose Whip, the ATK of Harpy Lady (which is already powered up with Cyber Shield) has already jumped from 1800 to 2100 without any cards being played.
  • The duel between Yugi and Mai is classed as a rematch, however the two of them have not duelled each other until now.
  • The Summoned Skull's stats are incorrectly given as 2500/2300.
  • They call Reborn the Monster into Monster Reborn.
  • Summoned Skull's stats are actually 2300/1200.
  • Yet another correction: SS is 2500/1200
  • Actually, its called Monster Reborn, not Reborn the Monster
  • When Yugi is in his room and transforms to Yami, he is wearing his Battle City shirt and cape. In the next scene, he's wearing his school uniform.
