Synopsis
Bakura engages the weakened Pegasus as the latter prepares to honor his bargain and unleash the souls. He readily wins since Pegasus is weakened from his duel with Yugi. As Pegasus' minions carry his unconscious body away, Yugi and his friends read Pegasus' diary and find out how he met the mysterious Shadi in Egypt years ago and was given the Millennium Eye and planned to use its power to bring his love Cecilia back.

As the gang looks for the souls, Shadi arrives looking for the criminal who stole Pegasus' Millennium Eye and confronts Yugi. Shadi uses his own Millennium Key to unlock Yugi's mind and discover Yami Yugi. Shadi reveals that an ancient pharaoh trapped the power of the Shadow Game within the Millennium Items and Yami Yugi lets Shadi into his unconscious mind - a labyrinth of traps and doors. The pure spirit of Yugi comes to Shadi's rescue and they both confront a mental projection of the Dark Magician, another mental defense. Yugi pleads to the Dark Magician, confirming to Shadi that Yugi is the "Chosen One" of ancient prophecy, fated to solve the Millennium Puzzle and prevent evil from unleashing the chaos of the Shadow Game. Shadi departs as mysteriously as he came, telling Yugi "the fate of the world rests on your shoulders."
Notes
  • Pegasus did NOT die in both the dub and the original anime. See "Pegasus's Invitation."
  • Quotes
Shadi-My name is Shadi and the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.

Yami Bakura:.....Shall I reveal the last of your fate? Doma the Angel of Silence....Because I'm going to silence you forever!

    Goofs and Nitpicks
  • Pegasus' diary claims that losing Cecelia meant that he no longer had the will to paint, however the painting of Shadi and the Duel Monsters cards were all painted after Cecelia died.
  • After the duel, Pegasus' deck is left at the arena, but he is then seen with it in the tower.
  • When Yami Bakura is doing his "tarot" reading, the Happy Lover card is at the bottom of his deck yet he draws it without getting to the bottom of the deck.
  • When YuGi goes over to the table, the 3 soul cards are switched in the opposite direction.
  • The picture of Cecilia is different from the one in THE NIGHT BEFORE.
  • Correction(for peggys deck): When Yami Bakura came back, he went down to the dueling arena and picked up his cards and THEN went to the tower. This is true because Yami Bakura says "I see in your deck, Pegasus..." But they arent gonna actually show Yami Bakura picking up the cards, it would waste time.
  • When Yami Bakura flip over the happy lover card, it is upside down, bakura even notes on that fact. But, when they show yami bakura flipping over th Mast of Darkness, the Happy Lover Card is seen Right side up.
  • In the Japanese version when Bakura pulled out the millenium eye Pegasus had died.
  • In the painting Cecilia's skin is tan but,in Pegasus's memories she has peach colored skin.
  • In the dub, they never tell us what happened to Pegasus.
  • note, about the happy lover card being at the bottom of the deck, they're are no restrictions on it, meaning he could have more than one.
  • Yami Bakura can sense other Millenium items right? So, why didn't he sense Shadi's Millenium Key? Shadi and Yugi were completely vulnerable at the time, and YB had the perfect chance to take their Millenium items, so why didn't he?
  • Reply: Yami Bakura is a guy who likes to bide his time. He wants to stay "undercover" so to speak, and it would be very foolish to blow his cover and confront TWO millennium Item owners at once. No, that's not Yami B's style. :)
  • In the Japanese comic book, Yugi met Shadi BEFORE Pegasus. I dont know why they put it after in the show
  • CORRECTION: The Japanese comic books along with Shonen Jump follow a much different storyline than the current anime show today. There is nothing wrong with the comics following a different story because they don't follow the show. -Submitted By: SteffenMC
